Last night while listening to BBC Radio 4, which is normally the home of good English, I heard a doctor say: "To resuscitate or not is a potentially life and death situation."
Potentially? Nope, I reckon once you're heart's stopped there's nothing potential about it.

However, a "life AND death" situation might not be a bad option. Most people only get to choose between life OR death.
"once you're heart's stopped"?
Tut tut.
Phew, glad it wasn't me that wrote that! Never would have heard the end of it...
Whoops!
Gareth... I'm mumbling this apology (for such it is) through a mouthful of humble pie – and JD, you're right, you wouldn't have heard the end of it. But I've decided to forgive myself, so you must too.
...ps well said the frumplingtons – I missed that one too. It's late and I've got one of my heads so I'm going for a quiet lie-down.
