Today's specialist magazine is Practical Reptile Keeping:
I spotted it in my local Morrisons supermarket last week. Amusingly, it wasn't at the back on the magazine aisle, but up front with the newspapers, gossip mags and sandwiches. But then, I suppose it has just been launched (June 2009, pictured above, is the first issue).
One of my colleagues bought a copy, so I'll ask him what he thought.

Funny. I'd never thought of reptiles as practical.
I saw something yesterday that would interest you. There's a poster up at school for one of the teaching unions. It says, 'Join ATL. Everyone else is.' Really irritating grammar, and an educational union, too.
But why highlight this on your blog? There are hundreds of specialist publications out there catering for all kinds of hobbies, and reptile keeping isn't all that strange. As long as the magazine covers its production costs, it will probably do well. Good luck to them!
I've highlighted this magazine on my blog because it has just been launched, and because it was amusing to see it up front in the supermarket nestled between Hello and Cosmo.
Also, as Fran Hill says, I do wonder what a practical reptile is. A gecko that does the washing-up?
But yes, good luck to Practical Reptile Keeping! I'm all in favour of specialist mags, and long may they continue.
Sorry, I think that should have been 'Hello!'...
If I were very rich I doubt I would be able to resist setting up a rival magazine called Impractical Reptile Keeping.
Not me Andrew, I'd launch Practical Reptile Releasing. Freedom for our cold-blooded brethren, say I. Let those monitors meander! Go, gekos, go! (I feel one of my headaches c oming on.)
