I spotted this sign while on the train to Ely recently:
Cambridge, home of Anglia Ruskin University.
Wait a minute - isn't there another university in Cambridge too? I can't for the life of me remember what it's called...

As a graduate of ARU, or APU as it was then, I find people bring up the subject of this sign with me irritatingly frequently. Through some sense of loyalty, I find myself justifying the idea in such situations. However, in truth, I think it's the most misguided and unconsidered piece of publicity i've seen in a long time. I know the organisation needs to use media advertising to raise its profile where Cambridge University doesn't, but for goodness sake, ARU, this sign is an embarrassment to all of your students, both current and graduated. Please remove it and regain a little credibility.
