Typo: foul-lane carriageway

Stan from the excellent language blog Sentence first has sent in this scan from the Galway City Tribune, pointing out the typo at the end of the first par (as usual, click on the image to see a larger version):

The road in question is a nice little jam-generator, so it's a particularly apt typo. I am a little conflicted, because it's a good newspaper, but amusement trumps politics again.

Thanks, Stan!

That must be a mental typo (the kind where your eyes say one thing, but the nerves in your hands go off on their own sort of auto-routine), and not a physical one (where your fingers simply get sloppy and hit the wrong key, or strike them out of order).

Bcs r and l are on different fingers.

Yes, I think you're right. Sometimes one of my colleagues will say something to me and I'll type what they're saying instead of what I'm meant to be typing, especially if the words are similar. If I'm listening to music sometimes I get 'interference' from the lyrics too!

OK, maybe that's just me.

What a shame they didn't repeat it in the headline ...
